Soviet Gaming started out as a UMS clan in SCBW playing the game "Diplomacy Gold 7.7" under the tag "Soviet_". Around the time chat channels came out in SC2 many original soviets played a higher level and decided to give a shot at semi- competitive play, thus making "Soviet Gaming" and the tag "sG". The playerbase and fanbase has always been international but has seen much growth with the extended efforts of all members.

The clan "Soviet" has been around since the early/mid 2000's. During the Broodwar days, the clan was known as just Soviet and was dedicated and built around the Custom map "Diplomacy 7.7 Gold". The Soviet tag then was Soviet_. Soviet had branches in Europe, East, West, and Asian servers. The community has endured and lived on for almost 11 years now and continues to grow.
