In his Up and Downs group, soO faced Life, herO, ByuN, and Bang. Winning over Life and ByuN, and despite a loss against herO, soO made it out of the group and back into Premier League for the 3rd season in a row. In Ro32, soO caused a huge upset, eliminating Bomber, who just had won Season 2 Finals, and YongHwa, and advancing into the Ro16 from second place after losing to Super. In the Ro16, despite losing to jjakji he got his revenge on Super and eliminated INnoVation, causing another huge upset by preventing the latter go to Ro8. In the Ro8, soO won against PartinG with a 3-1 score, continuing his road to the championship. In the Ro4, he met Soulkey, who was considered as a huge favourite, being number 1 in WCS rankings, but soO swept the series, winning 3-0 and moving into the finals to play against the sensational Royal Roader from SouL, Dear. In hard-fought finals, soO lost 2-4 and finished with the silver medal.

WCS Season 3 Finals[edit]

After being seeded into Season 3 Finals, soO got placed into a group with Maru, ByuL and duckdeok which was considered as the weakest group by far. However, after losing to Maru and duckdeok, soO got eliminated and finished on 13-16th place.

2014 GSL Season 1[edit]

soO entered next season of GSL as a seeded player for the first time in his career, and quickly made a statement by winning a group with sOs, Panic and Ruin. In the Ro16, soO won his group again after beating Trap and Bbyong, avoiding playing against the multiple IEM champion herO. In the Ro8, he met PartinG again and won 3-1 convincingly, dropping only Yeonsu to the infamous Soul Train. Then, in the Ro4, he met Life who was considered as a huge favourite again, because of his impeccable ZvZ but in a 7-game slaughter, soO eliminated Life and moved on to play another Royal Roader Protoss player, Zest, who was nicknamed as SK Telecom T1 killer after all-killing them in the SPL Round 1 playoffs and eliminating Soulkey and Rain on earlier stages. In the end, soO lost 3-4 and finished with silver once again.

2014 GSL Global Championship[edit]

In semifinals, soO met Zest and lost 2-3 again, being unable to get his revenge, therefore finishing on 3rd-4th place in this tournament.

2014 GSL Season 2[edit]

After making back-to-back finals, soO entered Code S as a favourite to go deep into the season, being top-2 seed before the tournament. He beat Ragnarok in Ro32, who was chosen by him to be in his group but lost to TRUE in a hard-fought ZvZ. Despite that, after dispatching Trap, soO moved on into Ro16. There, he met two SKT T1 teammates, Classic and PartinG, and CJ Entus's Proleague ace herO. soO destroyed herO, lost to Classic and won against PartinG, making the latter think more about ways of beating soO. In Ro8, soO met Solar and quickly dismantled him 3-0, proceeding to play TRUE in the semifinals. He got his revenge for losing in Ro32 after winning 4-1, and moved into his third Code S finals in a row to play Classic. soO lost 2-4 and received second place for his third consecutive GSL Code S Finals.

However, soO proceeded to beat Golden and Heart in the Losers Bracket, before losing 1-2 to Sage and finishing the tournament at 9-12th place.

Long Awaited Victory[edit]

After getting second place in 4 GSL seasons and even a DreamHack Open, soO managed to qualify for the 2015 KeSPA Cup Season 2 because of his excellent Proleague performance. In the Ro16 of the tournament, he defeated San 3-0, then in the Ro8, he met the powerful Protoss from CJ Entus herO and won 3-1. In the Ro4, he met Flash and won 3-1, and finally, for the first time in his career, he won in the finals of a premier tournament beating Dark 4-1. After winning his first premier tournament and hoisting up the trophy, he said that since he had won a tier 3 tournament and now a tier 2 tournament, his goal is to win a tier 1 tournament such as a GSL or an SSL.

  • His first win in an official SC2 match came against Modesty.

  • He has the all-time record of GSL Finals played, with 6 appearances.
  • In every GSL he advanced to the Round of 8, he advanced to the Finals.
  • He is the only Zerg to play in a final of the GSL in the LotV era, and he has accomplished this twice.
  • Has been addressed as "Kong" due to his many second place finishes: most notably, despite his 6 GSL Finals, he was never able to win the competition and always ended up second.
