Peter "Legionnaire" Neate (born April 24, 1981) is a retired Australian Protoss player.

Biography[edit]

Widely regarded as one of Australia's most successful Brood War players, Legionnaire spent 3 years in Korea playing professional Brood War culminating in a 3rd place finish during WCG 2005. Largely known for his Reaver harass, he describes his style as being defensive while trying "to annoy the person into making a mistake."[1] a trait which has carried over into his StarCraft II play.

In Beta[edit]

Though largely inactive in Brood War since his retirement Peter returned to StarCraft with the release of the Wing of Liberty Beta competing in a number of online tournaments such as the TransTasman SC2 Championship, the Mar Sara Trials and the Australian SC2 Showcase.

Wings of Liberty[edit]

Following the release of Wings of Liberty Peter continued to play in various online and local tournaments including reaching 2nd place on the CyberGamer Live Ladder. He went inactive soon after the start of the Battle.net Ladder Season 2 and remained so through 2011. He reappeared to compete in the ACL Pro Melbourne 2012 Nationals Brisbane Qualifier where his strong PvP allowed him to make a run through the losers bracket and secure a 4th place finish. With mOOnGLaDe having already earned a seed and TargA being ineligible due to his Norwegian citizenship, Legionnaire's performance was enough to earn him a spot as one of sixteen players to compete at the World Championship Series Australian Nationals on August 10–11, 2012. When asked if this signalled a return to professional gaming he replied "Erm, No. My girlfriend when she found out that the finals is next month, and that I'll be playing Starcraft for another month, she wasn't very happy."[2]
