Overview[edit]

The Iron Squid – Chapter I was an offline premier event announced on 14 January 2012. The tournament gathered 20 players from around the world. Eighteen players were invited to the event and the two remaining spots were granted via qualifiers (held on January 22nd and February 5th). The group stage and the quarterfinals of the main event were played online, with the semifinals and finals held offline in Paris on 5 May 2012 at Le Grand Rex, the largest cinema, theater and music venue in Paris, that can accommodate up to 2,500 spectators.[1][2]

The tournament was commentated by Pomf et Thud in French, with TotalBiscuit and Apollo providing additional commentary in English.[1] The tournament featured original musical themes specially composed for the event.

Musical Themes[edit]

The organisers of the event sought the help of the musician and composer In Uchronia in order to create musical themes dedicated to the tournament, so that it has its own sonor identity. On top of the tournament themes, each player has its own theme, which is briefly played at the end of every games he won.
