Chronology

The IeSF 2012 World Championship is the fourth international e-Sports tournament held by the International e-Sports Federation. This event was held in Cheonan, South Korea from 2 October to 6 October 2012.[1] Khaldor and Wolf casted the event in English.[2]

Tournament Information[edit]

Official titles[edit]

  • StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2
  • A.V.A (Alliance of Valiant Arms)[3]

Women's Invitational Match[edit]

IeSF has also given the opportunity to federations of all countries to send a woman to participate in the Women's Invitational Match.[4] Winners (first, second and third place) receive a medal.[5]

Prize Pool[edit]

The official Rules of the Tournament[5] indicate the following division of awards:

  • Composite Performance Award (1st rank nation, and 2nd rank nation)
  • Awards for each title (1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place)

Composite Performance Award[edit]

The first two nations receive a trophy for Composite Performance Award. The rank of each member nation is determined based on the sum of points acquired from results of each official title, as follows:

Rank 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5 - 8th 9 - 16th 17 - 32nd
Points 100 51 31 21 16 11 5

The nations which participated in A.V.A continental preliminaries obtain 11 points.

Detailed information: IeSF 2012 World Championship Qualifiers

a On 18 July 2012, the Namibian federation NESA disbanded,[7] and the Namibia Qualifier has therefore been cancelled.[8]
b The Sri Lankan Qualifier has been cancelled on the day it was supposed to be held.[9]
c HasuObs tweeted that Socke was going to represent Germany at IeSF.[10] However, whether this an invitation or the result of a qualifier is not known.
d Only a few players registered to the qualifiers, but nobody wanted to compete against Giantt, who thus qualified by default.
