Overview[edit]

Korhal Compound is a map designed by monitor and the other members of ESV Mapmaking Team. The LE (Ladder Edition) version was added to the Battle.net Leagues Season 6 Map Pool with Cloud Kingdom LE, while Xel'Naga Caverns and Arid Plateau got removed [1]. Before joining the Ladder Map Pool, the original version was part of the TeamLiquid's Map Contest and took the third place behind Cloud Kingdom and Ohana (which joined the Ladder Map Pool on Battle.net Leagues Season 7 [2]) [3]. Korhal Compound LE was finally removed from the Ladder Map Pool at the beginning of the Battle.net Leagues Season 8 [4].

Official Map Description[edit]

Formerly a Korhal military training ground, it has now become a warzone in iteself. Use the Xel'Naga towers to your advantage to defeat your foes!

Notable Features[edit]

  • Features a natural flow to taking expansions
  • Often results in split map situations where careful navigation around the middle is required
  • The towers are useful in defence, but can easily be acquired by an attacker
  • Usually results in long macro games

Strategies[edit]

This empty header represents an important section of this article which has yet to be filled. You can help Liquipedia by expanding it.

Korhal Compound TE (Tournament Edition)[edit]

Korhal Compound TE
  • Reduced size of main bases in order to move the ramps leading to the middle expansions closer without providing vision into the main base
  • Natural expansion chokes moved towards the third; the distance to the third base is shorter
  • Third expansion adjusted so siege tanks can no longer hit the hatchery/nexus/command center from the high ground
  • Third and fourth expansion minerals and gas rearranged to be less vulnerable to air harassment
  • Rocks removed from the middle expansions and added outside the natural
  • Widened the areas and ramps outside of the fourth (corner) expansion
  • Cliffs reverted to Korhal Manmade Cliffs
  • Map bounds increased from 132x132 to 132x136
  • Natural choke size reduced to requiring 3 gateways to wall off
  • Neutral supply depots added to the bottom of the main ramps
