Choi "CoCa" Jong Hwan is a Zerg player from South Korea, he is retired. He had retired from professional Starcraft II, initially deciding to play League of Legends competitively after the disbanding of SlayerS. He returned to competitive StarCraft II in April 2013. He then retired again on March 12, 2014.

Wings of Liberty[edit]

It was announced on August 17, 2011 that CoCa would be leaving ZeNEX and joining SlayerS. SlayerS has claimed that this player acquisition was carried out on good terms, but was later accused by the ZeNEX manager of player stealing.[1] CoCa retired from Starcraft II and switched to League of Legends in October 2012, as SlayerS disbanded.[2]

Code A[edit]

CoCa was one of the new qualifiers for the Code A GSL March season. He advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating AcE but would then lose to Leenock. In GSL May, CoCa would advance one round further to the quarterfinals. This allowed him to compete in the up/down matches where he took out foreigner, Jinro to obtain promotion into Code S.

Code S[edit]

In GSL Code S July 2011 CoCa reached the Round of 8 where he was defeated 3-0 by NesTea. His second game exhibited an interesting use of the many paths through Xel'Naga Caverns where he attempted to surprise NesTea with a large Baneling/Zergling attack by moving his Zerglings in a large 'S' shaped route around the map avoiding all of NesTea's Overlords. CoCa would subsequently come third in group D in the round of 32 of GSL Code S August 2011, failing to advance but securing his Code S place for the next GSL. CoCa would play in Code S of GSL October. He would place first in the group stages and move on to defeat Killer 2-0 before falling to Happy in the next round 0-3.

It was announced on November 15 that CoCa would be forfeiting his Code S spot due to controversy involving throwing a game to ByuN in an ESV TV Korean Weekly tournament game.[3]

GSTL[edit]

CoCa was sent out several times for SlayerS during 2012 GSTL Season 2. In the second round he all-killed Prime, the previous champions, eliminating them from the tournament.

On July 29, 2012, This Is Game released an article stating that CoCa grabbed the #1 spot for the 2012 GSTL Season 2 with 11 wins and 4 losses.[4]

ESV TV Korean Weekly[edit]

On November 10, 2011, CoCa participated in the ESV TV Korean Weekly Season 1 Weekly 14. After taking down Tiger, TAiLS, Uhen, and ByuN, CoCa went on to face TaeJa. He was not able to advance any further after he lost to TaeJa by a score of 2-3 and had to settle for fourth place.

On May 10, 2012, CoCa participated in the ESV TV Korean Weekly Season 3 Weekly 4. CoCa received a BYE in round one and then went on to take down Center, Punisher, inori, and asd, CoCa advanced in to the finals to face TaeJa. In the finals, CoCa defeated TaeJa by a score of 3-1 and grabbed first place.

From July 16 to July 28, 2012, CoCa participated in the ESV TV Korean Weekly Season 3 Grand Prix #2. To start off the tournament, CoCa started off in the group stages. CoCa was placed in to Group 5 and advanced in to the championship bracket with a score of 2-0. In the championship bracket, CoCa took down asd and HyuN, and then went on to face Squirtle. He was not able to advance any further and had to settle for third place after losing by a score of 2-3.

Esports Weekly Match[edit]

On April 6, 2012, CoCa participated in the EWM Season 2 Week 2. CoCa took down Blaka, TheBest, Cyrano, Noblesse, and DeParture to advance in to the finals against San. He wasn't able to advance any further and had to settle for second place after losing to San by a score of 0-2.

On April 13, 2012, CoCa participated in the EWM Season 2 Week 3. CoCa received a BYE in round one and then went on to take down YongHwa, Monster, Arthur, and Ready to advance in to the finals against LosirA. CoCa defeated LosirA by a score of 2-1 and advanced in to the EWM Season 2 Finals where he would have a shot to obtain a Code A seed if he won against the other weekly winners.

On May 21, 2012, CoCa participated in the EWM Season 2 Finals. CoCa received a BYE in the first round against LosirA and advanced in to the second round to face San. After defeating San by a score of 2-0, CoCa advanced in to the finals to face Life. He was not able to advance any further and had to settle for second place after he lost to Life by a score of 0-2.

On July 20, 2012, CoCa participated in the EWM Season 3 Week 7. CoCa received a BYE in round one and then went on to take down Choya, True, InCa, and Lucky to advance in to the finals against First. He wasn't able to advance any further and had to settle for second place after he lost to First by a score of 0-2.

OnGameNet Star II League[edit]

2012 OSL Non-KeSPA Preliminaries[edit]

On July 2, 2012, CoCa participated in the 2012 OSL Non-KeSPA Preliminaries. CoCa received a BYE in round one and then took down First, JYP, SuperNova, and faced aLive in the finals. After taking down aLive by a score of 2:1, CoCa advanced in to the 2012 OSL Non-KeSPA Dual Tournament.

Outside Korea[edit]

It was announced on August 11 that CoCa would be going to MLG Raleigh as part of the GSL-MLG Exchange Program.[5] There, he placed first in his group going 5-0 without losing a single game. In the Championship bracket, CoCa knocked out PuMa 2-0 before being defeated by Bomber 0-2, knocking him to the loser's bracket. After taking out DongRaeGu 2-1 in the loser's finals, CoCa ended up losing 4-1 to Bomber in the grand finals in an extended series to take second place.

IPL Fight Club[edit]

On July 2, 2012, CoCa was invited to participate in the IPL Fight Club. His first opponent was MarineKing. CoCa defeated MarineKing by a score of 5-3 and took his rightful seat at top of the throne.

On July 9, 2012, CoCa faced his next opponent for the IPL Fight Club, Squirtle. This was where his streak ended as he lost to Squirtle by a score of 3-5 and allowed Squirtle to overthrow him.

World Championship Series[edit]

2012 WCS Korea Preliminaries[edit]

On July 22, 2012, CoCa participated in the 2012 South Korea WCS Preliminaries. CoCa received a BYE in round one and then took down 하준민, Moon, Whale, and faced sOs in the finals. After taking down sOs by a score of 2:0, CoCa advanced in to the World Championship Series: South Korea Nationals.

Heart of the Swarm[edit]

CoCa's first Heart of the Swarm tournament, and his first appearance since returning to professional Starcraft is 2013 DreamHack Stockholm through a sponsorship by Project Dark Horse, alongside his former teammate Puzzle.[6] . He was able to advance over Stephano (2-0) in the round of 16, but then proceeded to lose against Leenock (0-2) in the quarterfinals to end with a top 8 finish.
