You'll be doing this mission if you side with Tosh and his Spectres when the choice will be given. Tosh wants to rescue his fellow Spectres from a high security Dominion prison world.

Guide[edit]
You can only control the Spectre leader, Tosh, in this mission. Though you'll have only one unit, Raynor will periodically send troops following a predetermined path to help you. Your objective is to help them as much as possible to be able to move forward. Tosh is a hero Spectre. Like Zeratul or Nova, he is perma-cloaked. No enemy units can see him unless he gets close to a detector such as a turret, or a Raven. Do not hesitate to focus those if you can.
You're starting near Raynor's base, and a few enemy marines sit there. You can kill them or just walk through them as they can't harm you anyway. You'll be given the first special Tosh spell at this point : Mind Blast. See below for the description of Tosh's spells.
Moving forward, you'll encounter the first turret. Just Mind Blast the small group of marines, finish the others with the gun and kill the turret, or you can actually walk past it as it is now useless if you want to gain a few seconds. At this point you'll get the second spell: Psi Shield. A Tank and a turret are waiting for you there. You'll need to use the shield to get near the tank and destroy it, to avoid getting damaged for nothing.
First base[edit]
Once this is done, you'll approach the first Dominion base. It is protected by a few Siege Tanks, 2 turrets and bunkers and some troops. A factory will be producing hellions. Fortunately, you can get on the high ground on the left of the entrance and easily destroy a siege tank and even a bunker if you wish. You'll have to use Psi Shield to get in range of the turret to be able to destroy it. Wait for Raynor's troops to attack and use that diversion to destroy the turret. You'll take less damage, and along with the Psi Shield you should be able to take the turret and the Siege Tank out without losing any health. Move forward and destroy the other Siege Tank as it is not properly covered by the turret. Using Psi Shield to not get damaged by the hellions that are probably waiting there, destroy the turret. From there just clear the base with the help of Raynor's troops. Once it is done, Raynor will take the base and use it as an outpost, sending attacks from there : Marauders and more medics will join each attack group from now on.
Moving forward, a Dominion Ghost will EMP you*. You'll be uncloaked for a few seconds and you'll lose all your energy. Retreat to Raynor's base and wait while you regain your cloak. You also get the third Tosh spell at this point : Consumption. Use it to regain a bit of energy and start advancing. Use the little path behind the wall to go behind the Dominion fortifications and take out the tanks, and eventually the turret, and clear the rest of the forces there with the help of Raynor's troops. You can then free the prisoners (see below) or move forward. Remember that if you lose some health, Raynor's medics can heal you.
- Note: If you hug the southern wall, you can avoid the ghosts EMP, which will allow you to keep your energy and not lose the health from being uncloaked.
Second base[edit]
When you move forward you'll approach the second Dominion base. Go to the high ground using the little alley on the left of the road, and carefully destroy the Raven patrolling. Use Psi Shield to not get damaged by the tanks and Mind Blast to stun the Raven to be able to destroy it before it runs away. Once it is done, destroy everything in range and go back to the main road. Wait for Raynor's troops to attack and destroy the turret using Psi Shield again, and once it is done, you can enter the base and finish the tanks before targeting the last turret: once again, use Psi Shield and get close to the last tank so it can't shoot you and destroy it after the turret is gone. Clear the rest of the base and like before, Raynor will take possession of it. The second prisoner cell is right to the left (see below).
Main facilities[edit]
Right ahead lies the main prison facilities. It is heavily guarded and Raynor lets you use 4 nukes. Tosh does not need as much time as a Ghost to launch the nuke. It is much faster.
Either use one nuke right at the entrance, or take Cell Block B and then protect Raynor's siege tanks as they clear out the two turrets.
Once it is done, you can advance. Watch out for the Ravens patrolling. There will be tanks on the cliffs, so take them out. Use another nuke in between the two enemy Thors right ahead, and you can use another one on the high ground after the ramp where many enemy units stand. It should destroy the mercenary Battlecruiser as well (bring it down with the gun if out of luck).
There are two galleys above the mentioned high ground where you can reach and destroy the Tech Lab of the Starport on the right and the whole Starport (on the left). They are guarded by a few Reapers only, and while Ravens around are still a problem, this is really worth trying. After you destroy one Starport and cripple another, new Ravens are no longer produced. After finishing existing Ravens, it becomes easy to destroy most of the base while staying invisible.
From there, you just need to destroy entirely the enemy base to finish the mission. Use the last nuke or two wherever you want where there are lots of enemy units. Raynor's troops will help a lot, so make sure you help them as much as possible by destroying the enemy tanks and other powerful units. Once there is no enemy left, the victory is yours.
Tosh's spells[edit]
- Mind Blast:
- It is a small Area-of-Effect attack that deals 35 damage to the enemy units in that area, and stuns them for about 2 seconds. It is very useful to damage infantry units, but also to stun Siege Tanks, Ravens or even turrets, they won't be able to detect you while they are stunned. It uses 50 energy.
- Psi Shield:
- Using 30 energy, it creates a shield that can absorb up to 300 damage. It disappears after 10 seconds, so be very careful not to be under fire at that moment, or Tosh will start taking health damage.
- Consumption:
- Almost like Defiler's consume, from Brood War, it takes health from a friendly biological unit and gives you energy, except here, it does not kill the targeted unit. The more health the targeted unit has, the more energy you gain, therefore it is recommended to use it on units with lots of health: Marauders are perfect.
Sidequests[edit]
- Kill Guards at Cell Block A (25000 credits)
- This is the first cell you'll pass by. It contains Diamondbacks and their crew. A small enemy force is guarding it, and the turret is behind them. It is possible to find a safe corner to attach while remaining undetected. From now on, a Diamondback will join Raynor's troops every wave.
- Kill Guards at Cell Block B (25000 credits)
- This is the second cell you'll encounter, right after the second Dominion base. It contains Siege Tanks and their crew. A medium-sized enemy force of infantry, a Thor, and two siege tanks are protecting it, with a Raven patrolling back and forth to detect. When the Raven is all the way to the left, all of the forces except one siege tank will be out of its detection range, so each time it moves to the left you'll get a window of time to hit them. The infantry and Thor are nicely bunched up for successive Mindblasts; make sure to kill the medic first so damage is preserved across attack windows. The siege tank on the left is always in Raven detection range, but when the Raven is all the way to the left you can attack it from just out of detection. Just make sure to get to safety or put up a shield when the Raven moves back to the right. Once you're done with Cell Block B, a siege tank will join Raynor's troops every wave.
Achievements[edit]
Cool Hand Tosh
- Just remember to use Psi Shield when entering an area that will detect you. Also, return to friendly troops to refill health and energy whenever necessary.
- Take out important targets that will hinder Raynor's troops, or detectors: Bunkers, Ravens, Missile Turrets, Tanks, and Medics. Make sure to destroy the factories so Raynor sets up a new base. Freeing the prisoners helps a lot because the new units help Raynor push. For the first prisoners use a couple Mind Blasts to take out the clump of troops, then head to the left and take out the turret outside the tanks range. For the second set of prisoners, keep running in and out based on the Raven's patrol. Take out the bottom tank, then the medic, then Mind Blast the group. Use Mind Blast to stun the last tank. When that wears off use Psi Shield. On the last part use the nukes to take out the first set of turrets, then use the two ramps to take out the side turrets. Finally, go nuke crazy.

If you avoid this mission for as long as possible, you can complete 22 missions before heading to New Folsom. You should have earned up to 2,105,000 credits and both Protoss and Zerg research should be completed.
