Code S[edit]

  • Main Tournament.
  • 32 Players competed for the Championship.
  • 8 Players lost Code status and entered the Up & Down Matches, where they had the chance to reclaim it.

Code A[edit]

  • Secondary Tournament.
  • 32 Players, 16 from the previous GSL, 15 new qualifiers and one MLG Columbus participant.
  • Losers in the first Round lost their Code status.
  • The Winner of this tournament received Code status for the next GSL.
  • Players who reached the Round of 8 (except for Code winner) entered the Up & Down Matches.

Trivia[edit]

  • The MLG<>GSL exchange program started with this GSL.
  • YellOw, a Brood War legend did the ID Call for Code A players starting from the Round of 8.[1]
  • This was the first GSL to have a Protoss in the finals of Code A. It also happened to be the first time to have PvP finals in either Code A or S.
  • This was the first GSL to have a ZvZ finals in Code S. It also happened that this was the first time to have a teamkill in the finals.
  • The Code S champion, NesTea, won without dropping a single game, getting him his third GSL win.
