Map Pool[edit]

This season introduced two new maps: Blizzard’s Antiga Shipyard, and Winpark’s Daybreak; these replaced Xel'Naga Caverns and Crevasse.[1]

Note: GOM showed the names “Terminus RE” and “Tal'Darim Altar” in their broadcasts, while the newer versions Terminus SE and Tal'Darim Altar LE are played.

Code S[edit]

  • Main Tournament.
  • 32 Players competed for the Championship.
  • 8 Players lost Code Code S status and entered the Up & Down Matches, where they had the chance to reclaim it.

Code A[edit]

  • Secondary Tournament.
  • 32 Players, 15 from the previous GSL, 13 new qualifiers and 4 foreigner seeds (from MLG Columbus and The Road to Korea).
  • Losers in the first Round lost their Code status.
  • The Winner received Code Code S status for the next GSL.
  • Players who reached the Round of 8 (except for Code winner) entered the Up & Down Matches.

  • 8 Code Code S Players and 7 Code Players.
  • These 15 Players were divided into 3 groups of 5.
  • 6 Players, first and second place from each group, received Code Code S status.

Trivia[edit]

  • As such, this GSL also marked the GSL with the most non-Korean players, with 6 total, 5 being in Code A. Unfortunately, none of the 5 in Code A could make it past the Round of 32.
  • 50% of the players of this GSL were Terran as there were 32 of them in the 64 players of both Code A and Code S.
  • This was the first GSL where there was a tie in the Up and Down Matches. This was followed by another tie in the first round of playoffs before an outcome was decided.
