The WCG Grand Finals Germany 2005 took place at Tropical Island in Berlin at the end of August.

Preliminary Qualifiers

• Direct Invite: Mondragon got an invitation for placing first in 2005 European Samsung Championship but didn't use it
• Giga Liga: Three players could qualify through Giga Liga
• WWCL: Seven spots were given for the top ranked players of the WWCL-Lan Rating
• Online Tournament: Five (six) players could qualify via a double-elimination tournament hosted by WCG

Trivia

• Selector was and is known to be a notorious hacker. He was caught hacking numerous times. One of broodwar.de's editors honoured this history with listing caught hacking 2002,2003,2004,2005 in the player's profile of WCG BW.de Coverage
• Elmo became a father of a son shortly before WCG Germany 2005
• The event got broadcasted by iV.Grummel who usually casted with Elmo. Later that duo was invited to cast WCG 2008 in Cologne. Even with having a huge German fanbase the two casters got heavily criticized by the audience at the Grand Finals.
