Description[edit]

God's Garden was introduced in Round 4 of the Shinhan Proleague 2008-2009 Season as one of four new maps for the round. The map is very macro oriented with a protected expansion only accessible via a ramp in the back of each player's main.

The map is known for favoring Zerg due to having 2 "free" (easily defendable) gas expansions that can be taken very early. To date there have been over 30 televised ZvZs on the map, compared to under 10 TvTs or PvPs.

Notable Features[edit]

  • Back Expansion - The protected expansion in the back of each base leads to very macro-oriented gameplay; in PvZ a 1 Gate Fast Expansion is viable using Zealots to block the ramp and expanding to the back of your base giving you faster tech than the usual Forge Fast Expansion. Zerg on the other hand usually go for a 4 Hatch before gas build instead of the standard 3 Hatch Spire into 5 Hatch Hydra build.
  • High ground above back expansion - The back expansion has a high ground cliff just above it, that is droppable. It is something to keep in mind especially vs terran with Siege Tanks. The Tanks can hit the minerals and the Nexus/Command Center/Hatchery from there. Dragoons can hit the mineral line as well. Storm drops are effective there too.
  • No shared expansions - The lack of expansions aside from the two other mains and their two naturals combined with the long distance between bases makes taking a 4th base on this map very difficult, especially for Protoss and Terran. Thus, denying your opponents 4th base or securing a 4th base of your own is often the key to victory on this map.
  • Unwallable Main Bases - The terrain around the ramp leading to the natural is unbuildable, so Terran players cannot build a wall there. At the very least, this is true for the ICcup version of the map.

Strong Build Orders[edit]

Protoss vs. Protoss[edit]

Protoss vs. Zerg[edit]

  • Corsair/Dark Templar - Video - The expansion within the main base allows the Protoss to expand early without needing a large army to break into his natural. Instead a couple well placed goons and cannons can hold keep the main safe for a long time.
