EVO 2016: Melee
EVO 2016 was the 2016 edition of the Evolution tournament series, the largest fighting game tournament series in the world, and seen as the world championships of fighting games. EVO 2016 was the fifth EVO to feature Super Smash Bros. Melee, and fourth consecutive EVO to feature it.
Alongside Melee, EVO 2016 also featured tournaments for: Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokkén Tournament, Guilty Gear Xrd, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat X, Tekken 7, and Killer Instinct.
EVO 2016 was the largest Melee tournament at the time of its running, and overall is the third largest game in terms of entrants at the event. Notably, Melee had the highest percentage of entrants at the event that exclusively entered Melee and no other game at EVO 2016.
This tournament is the third consecutive EVO to feature Hungrybox in the grand finals, but it is only the first that he has been able to win.
