Rarity

From Liquipedia Hearthstone Wiki

Cards come in five different Rarities, which are not to be confused with Card Sets. The five rarities are: Free, Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary. This page details the cards that can used by the players. For cards that can not be used by players, see Mission Cards.

Free Cards[edit]

Example of a Free card

Free Cards are the cards that become available to the players by playing or unlocking. They fall into two groups: Neutral cards and class-specific cards. The Free cards can be identified by their missing gem; while all other rarities have a gem of a certain colour in the middle of the card, Free cards do not have one.

There are 43 Neutral Free Cards and a total of 90 class-specific Free cards, ten for each class, of which five are known upon unlocking a hero and five others have to unlocked by leveling each hero to level 10. In addition, several other types of cards are categorized as Free merely upon their missing gem and artwork, such as spawned minions.

Free cards are always gained in pairs (except for Golden versions). All Free Cards belong to the Basic Set category, of which all cards are Soulbound, meaning that they can not be disenchanted.

For a list of all the Free Cards that are available to the players, see List of obtainable Free cards. For a list of Free cards that are used by the AI only, see List of Mission cards.
