Jan "Faramir" Engelmann is a Hearthstone player from Germany.

Biography[edit]

Faramir is 20 years old and lives in Berlin, Germany. His gaming career started rather early when he got his first Game Boy Color at the age of 8. He started experiencing his enthusiasm for computer games when he discovered games like Age of Empires, Anno 1604 and FIFA. After he exhausted single player games he moved on to Multiplayer Online Games like Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, Assassin’s Creed, including League of Legends. Faramir continued playing LoL on a casual level for a couple of years. He always followed the LoL competitive scene and when he got the chance to play in online tournaments for Hearthstone, he saw his chance to enter the pro scene as a player.

In Beta[edit]

Faramir first saw Hearthstone on streams during closed beta. After getting a key, Faramir quickly became a staple on the EU server despite having no competitive card game experience.

Post Release[edit]

Faramir joined Planetkey Dynamics and took part in several weekly tournaments netting several wins and high finishes. He also took part in the gentleman's cup, furthering his rise in the competitive scene. Where he had the highest winning % of any player at 80% (12-3) After a successful run in the gentleman's cup, Faramir joined ManaGrind, putting him in the company of some of the best players in the game. Upon the breakup of Managrind in August 2014, Faramir was picked up by Don't Kick My Robot. During his time with DKMR he took part in some large tournaments including Prismata Cup 2 and Viagame House Cup. In November Faramir made the transfer to Team IHEARTHU with the rest of the active DKMR members. Faramir went on under the IHEARTHU banner to place in the top 8 in the Dreamhack Hearthstone Championship, 1st in Tavern Takeover III, and first in Heroes of Cards 4.
