Toby "TobiWan" Dawson, is a well-known Dota 2 commentator from joinDOTA. Tobiwan commentates many of the top Dota 2 tournaments, including The International 2011, The International 2012, The International 2013, The International 2014, The International 2015, The Defense, DreamHack, and joinDOTA Masters.

Early Life

Toby 'TobiWan' Dawson was born in Nambour, Australia, although he only stayed there in the hospital for a few days, and eventually grew up in Maleny, a small town off the Sunshine Coast. He has once mentioned that it is one of the most beautiful places he has seen, and is first on his list of places to retire. Toby's father was a printer, but unfortunately he passed away in 1991, so he was raised by his mother who was a teacher, but switched to being a full-time parent. His mother is now a commentator, focusing mostly on commentating theater events for the blind. Toby also has a step-father, who is involved with IT at IBM. Toby isn't an only child though, he also has one brother, a half-brother and a half-sister. [1]

Toby didn't grow up as a gamer, which is unlike most gaming personalities. He was really into sports, most specifically Soccer, Tennis, and Cricket. However, his real passion throughout his formative years was musical theater.

Twitch Streaming

Toby and his studio are well known to often broadcast live games, but forget to change the title. For example, a past stream by the name of "Na'Vi, Empire, VP, Tinker - Megafon Battle Arena, i-League & MSI BeatIT Final - Rebroadcast" was actually live!
