The sacred science of Chymistry was a Darkbrew family tradition, but no Darkbrew had ever shown the kind of creativity, ambition, and recklessness of young Razzil. However, when adulthood came calling he pushed aside the family trade to try his hand at manufacturing gold through Alchemy. In an act of audacity befitting his reputation, Razzil announced he would transmute an entire mountain into gold. Following two decades of research and spending and preparation, he failed spectacularly, quickly finding himself imprisoned for the widespread destruction his experiment wrought. Yet Razzil was never one to take a setback lightly, and sought escape to continue his research. When his new cellmate turned out to be a fierce ogre, he found just the opportunity he needed. After convincing the ogre not to eat him, Razzil set about carefully concocting a tincture for it to drink, made from the moulds and mosses growing in the prison stone work. In a week's time, it seemed ready. When the ogre drank the potion, it flew into an unstoppable berserker rage, destroying the cell bars and exploding through walls and guards alike. They soon found themselves lost somewhere in the forest surrounding the city with a trail of wreckage in their wake and no signs of pursuit. In the tonic's afterglow, the ogre seemed serene, happy, and even eager. Resolving to work together, the pair set off to collect the materials needed to attempt Razzil's Alchemic transmutation once more.

Alchemist brews up an unstable concoction that he can throw at an enemy hero, to stun and deal damage. The longer the concoction brews, the more damage it deals and the longer the target is stunned. The brew Razzil gave to the Ogre during their prison bust has become a useful potion in the midst of combat.
  • Total regeneration: 1250 / 1875 / 2500 HP and 75 / 187.5 / 300 Mana.
  • Total base movement speed: 325 / 335 / 355.
  • Has a 0.35 second transformation time which provides invulnerability. During this short time projectiles and stuns can be disjointed.
  • Illusions benefit from from BAT and movement speed increase, but not the hp and mana regen.
  • Alchemist's ogre turns purple and wields his swords for the duration of Chemical Rage.

Aghanim's Scepter Abilities[edit]

This hero is upgradeable by Aghanim's Scepter. The scepter grants Aghanim's Scepter Synth. This ability is independent from Alchemist's spells and is casted directly from the scepter.

General Strategy[edit]

Synthesizing extra resources from each and every kill, Alchemist has no trouble gathering the tools needed to destroy his foes. Ambushing enemies with corrosive acid and a host of unstable chemicals, he battles to ensure his greedy escapades can remain uninterrupted.


Alchemist can play a proactive role as a ganker or as an end-game carry depending on how he is built skill and item-wise. Alchemist can farm thanks to his ultimate's regeneration as well as Acid Spray, or gank in combination with Unstable Concoction and Acid Spray. Regardless, his ability to earn gold incredibly fast with Greevil's Greed is his the reason he has such fluidity.

In general, there is more than one way to build Alchemist. Most builds however always involve Greevil's Greed at the start in order to get the gold bonus on the first rune. Acid Spray is a great spell for laning and farming, so it is the most common to max first. If there is more early game team fighting than usual, Unstable Concoction will maxed sooner instead of Greevil's Greed. If Alchemist is simply free farming however, he can get by with just 1 in Unstable Concoction while clearing stacks of creeps with additional Greevil's Greed gold.

Early Game[edit]

When under a free farm scenario (ie. supported vs an offlane solo), there are 2 ways to build him. The first is Acid + Greed. You generally will go for BF for this build. The idea is to farm farm farm farm farm farm until 6 slots (exaggeration here). Alternatively, players might go for Midas + SB and it's still perfectly fine. Either way, all you will be doing is to farm all game and carry in the end. How the game goes is entirely in your team's hands, and not yours (since you cannot contribute if they lose the early game and you have no room to farm).

The second way is Stun + Greed. Item choice is usually Midas + SB. Sometimes Midas is skipped entirely. This build usually gets you a 10 minute SB. With maxed Concoction and SB, you generally can solo kill many of heroes. This includes the enemy carry. The high damage nuke + 4s worth of cling cling clang clang is enough to deal considerable damage. It also allows you to initiate in ganks. Your role of course is still to farm and farm. The difference is that the enemy cannot farm in peace anymore. That aspect buys you even more space to outfarm and outcarry the game.

Mid Game[edit]

You will often face a common dual lane in lower level pubs or even pubs in general. In that case you usally will have a jungler and a support on your side. Try your best at last hitting, your quota will be very different from the free farming one obviously. Get as many last hits as you can and make sure your jungler either stack pulls or the support stacks and the jungler then pulls or ganks the lane from time to time to help you get the space you need to farm some of your core items up.

This is essential to make Alchemist or in general any carry effective in the midgame.

Finish getting all your items, becoming 6 slotted by utilizing Alchemist's enhanced farming abilities.
