MLG Columbus 2016 is the first North American CS:GO Major Championship, featuring 16 teams. This event will be held in Columbus, Ohio. The group stage will be hosted at the MLG Arena but will be closed to spectators while the bracket stage will be open to spectators on April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the Nationwide Arena.

Format[edit]

  • In the group stage the 16 teams are divided in four groups, according to their seeding. The groups will be played in GSL format with the opening matches, the winner's matches and the loser's matches being best of one and the decider matches being best of three.
  • The matches in the playoffs (including the final) will be best of threes.

1 The roster of Team SoloMid leaves the organization and forms their own - Astralis.
2 Fnatic acquire dennis from G2 Esports to replace pronax. G2 Esports sign aizy.
3 Luminosity Gaming sign TACO and fnx, replacing steel and Boltz.
4 Ninjas in Pyjamas release allu & sign pyth.
5 The roster of G2 Esports is acquired by FaZe Clan.
6 Team EnVyUs replace kioShiMa with DEVIL.
7 pyth is unable to travel to the event on time due to visa issues, and will be replaced in the line-up by THREAT.
