Counter-Strike Majors

From Liquipedia Counter-Strike Wiki

Intro[edit]

The biggest Counter-Strike tournaments from 2001 to 2012 were called the majors, similarly to the Valve CS:GO Majors tournaments, but they were not funded by Valve. Only five tournaments were called the majors : CPL Winter, CPL Summer, ESWC, WCG and IEM World Championship.

The inclusion of some events is up to debate, but three events are not included in the list for the following reasons :
WCG 2001 - CPL Winter 2001 was played at the same time and few premier teams attended.
CPL Summer 2005 - ESWC 2005 was played at the same time and was considered to have more premier teams.
IEM Season 1 - Only European teams were allowed to play.
